Since 1965, the Newton County Chamber of
Commerce has been active in promoting Newton and Newton County to residents,
visitors and potential families and businesses that may wish to relocate.
The Chamber has
taken an aggressive position to assist our community in economic development
programs. The Chamber's Economic Development Committee, an association
of local business, civic and government leaders, has been instrumental
in developing this Website, planning and initiating the Newton County
Courthouse Square Renovation Program and receiving a sizable Texas Infrastructure
Program grant to upgrade fiber optic communications for marketing and
education.
The Chamber is entirely volunteer-driven
with no paid staff, however, our past accomplishments and present programs
remain a benchmark for other Chambers in the East Texas Area. Our volunteers
are dedicated to promoting our resources and are proud to be residents
of Newton County, home of
"Clean Air - Fresh Water - Friendly
People!"
A SPECIAL THANKS to Donnie Meek, Carolyn Motl,
Entergy, Buddy Hollis, Susan Karpel, Pam Wright, Jerry Pace, David
Hines, Mark Karpel
and all the numerous dedicated volunteers for the long hours of research,
layout & design work and travel necessary to make this Website a reality!
